The Howell House was a famous south shore seaside resort hotel that was taken down in 1970 to make way for a condominium project. A model building with 4 units was built but the project was abandoned when the economy failed, Barnet Holdings in conjunction with Blaney Brokerage and Rush Builders purchased the project in July 2001. It contained a 4-unit rental building on a parcel of half an acre and a 2.4-acre piece with a restaurant and several rental buildings. Permission was received in April 2005 to demolish the 2.4-acre piece and build 9, 2,600 sq. ft. 3-bedroom townhomes in 4 buildings. The 2.4-acre piece was sold to a development group and the 4-unit rental building was retained to be converted into 4 two-bedroom condominiums after they are fully refinished with state-of-the-art kitchen, baths, HVAC, etc. The project returned to the original investors several hundred times their investment.
This 8-acre site located in Westhampton Beach is contiguous to the Patio Villas which was developed by Barnet and Partners in 1987. The site just received zoning approval for 48 townhomes. Site engineered by Barrat Bonachia and architected by ADLIII, a premier North Shore design firm, it should be ready for sales in Spring 2010.
